Covid-19 Arrangements

During these unprecedented times we are following the advice of the Chief Medical Officer to stay home and save lives. We are, therefore, all working from home at present and have temporarily closed our premises in Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

Throughout this period of isolation, members of chambers will attend court hearings by telephone or video link as required. We wish to stress that each member of chambers is available to conduct conferences by video link or by telephone and that we are happy to receive instructions by email. Our barristers use a variety of video conferencing methods including Skype, Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Our clerks can still be contacted on the usual numbers and email addresses – although given they are each working alone at home they may not be able to answer every call immediately. Please send them an email if you can’t get through straight away and they will return your call.

We will be happy to help clients, where we can, with accessing technology to attend hearings.

About Us

Fountain Chambers is a progressive set of barristers in the North East of England with a forward-thinking outlook, embracing changes such as mediation for separating couples and direct access for clients. We can also provide video conferencing facilities.

Our Head of Chambers, Collette Price, leads a set of Chambers whose members and staff are all dedicated to providing a friendly, high quality service to solicitors, individuals, unions, businesses, and local and national government departments.

Although our administrative team are based at our offices in the Cleveland Business Centre, Middlesbrough, we are also able to offer conferencing facilities at our Newcastle-upon-Tyne office in Churchill House, 12 Mosley Street which is a conveniently placed short walk to Newcastle Combined Court Centre.

Some of our current members presently sit as Recorders and a number of former members of Chambers have been appointed to the bench including His Honour Judge ANJ Briggs, His Honour Leslie Spittle, His Honour Judge PJB Armstrong, His Honour Judge SJ Ashurst, the former Recorder of York, and Her Honour Judge DA Sherwin.
