Crime
Criminal Law
Fountain Chambers has established a reputation as the ‘Chambers of choice’ for serious and complex crime. Our team regularly accepts instructions from prosecuting authorities and defence solicitors on all matters appearing before the Crown and Magistrates’ courts.
The experience is demonstrated by members of Chambers recently prosecuting the largest ‘cash for crash’ fraud case (70 defendants) in the UK and having been involved in a number of high profile cases over recent recent years: ‘Bay P’, ‘Stephen Lawrence’ and the ‘Dale Creegan’ case.
Our recruitment of pupils into the criminal team ensures that the experience of our senior practitioners is passed on and Chambers’ reputation can continue to grow.
Health & Safety Law
Members of the team regularly represent individuals and companies involved in investigations and prosecutions arising from health and safety legislation. Good advice at an early stage is vital in this complicated area of law.
Regulatory, Healthcare & Professional Discipline
Members of the team provide advice and representation in relation to proceedings beforeThe General Medical Council (GMC), the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), the General Dental Council (GDC), the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), the General Teaching Counsel (GTC), the General Social Care Council (GSCC) (as was, now part of the HCPC), Police Disciplinary Tribunals, Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and Courts Martial.
Members of the group are also regularly instructed to represent individuals and organisations that are subject to Independent Police Complaints Commission investigations, ranging from road traffic accidents following police pursuits to one of the largest investigations ever undertaken by the IPCC, “the Raoul Moat case”.
Consumer Protection & Product Liability
Members of the group are regularly instructed to prosecute by Local Authorities throughout the North of England. We assist and advise from the inception of an investigation and conduct all court hearings up to and including confiscation proceedings post sentence.
Members also represent companies and/or individuals who face prosecution in relation to alleged breaches of consumer protection legislation.
Local authorities, companies and individuals can request representation from members of our team.
