Christopher Bevan

Profile

Christopher takes instructions in all areas of criminal law, and some civil and immigration matters. He is a CPS Grade 2 prosecutor.

Christopher’s practice is now predominantly in the Crown Court for both prosecution and defence conducting trials, as well as the same in defence cases at the Court Martial.

Before joining Fountain Chambers, Christopher worked for Leeds City Council where he conducted over 200 Antisocial Behaviour cases and over 700 prosecutions as a full fee earner and advocate in the Magistrates court. His Magistrates court experience includes first hearings, case management hearings, trials and sentencing hearings. Christopher has extensive experience in local authority prosecutions relating to non-school attendance, Public Spaces Protection Orders, Community Protection Notices and fly-tipping. He was also responsible for the implementation of simple cautions and PACE interviews in some prosecution areas, and is open to consult with local authorities and their enforcement teams about new prosecution areas and training. He has prosecuted cases which have resulted in large scale fines and custody and has dealt with cases involving appeal and cases at the Crown Court, including assisting a colleague in a large health and safety prosecution following a health and safety violation resulting in death.

Now a tenant, Christopher was under the supervision of Richard Bennett during pupillage. Christopher also assisted Paul Rooney with a ten-handed murder trial for the defence where he carried out work and learned the role of a junior advocate.
