Robin Patton

Robin holds Grade 4 status on both the Serious Crime Panel of Advocates and the RASSO Panel — the most senior prosecution grade, accredited to prosecute and defend rape and serious sexual offences at the highest level — and acts in both the prosecution and defence of serious offences. He has led prosecution teams in cases of exceptional scale including a 78-defendant fraud conspiracy tried at Newcastle Crown Court. He has defended with equal force, including representing a company director charged with corruption at St Albans Crown Court.

This dual experience is not incidental. It gives him a forensic understanding of how the Crown constructs its case – and precisely where that case can be taken apart. Clients on either side of the courtroom benefit from an advocate who has stood in the opposing corner.

A significant part of Robin’s practice never reaches a courtroom at all. Professionals facing the early signs of legal jeopardy – a regulatory referral, a complaint or a first approach from investigators -regularly seek confidential advice in strict confidence, without any public footprint. For many clients, discretion is not merely valued but essential.

Before coming to the Bar Robin worked at a leading London law firm specialising in white-collar crime and regulatory investigations – grounding that gives him an understanding of how cases are built from the very first enquiry. He provides realistic advice, focused on protecting his clients’ interests and achieving the best possible result, whether that involves early resolution or robust defence at trial.

Robin has represented clients from a wide range of backgrounds, including professionals such as doctors, solicitors, accountants, police officers, social workers, nurses, and bank managers, as well as individuals working in trades and other industries. He also has experience acting in cases involving public figures, including footballers, agents, and actors.

He has expertise in cases involving cybercrime, digital evidence, and complex technical or scientific issues. He has defended significant hacking cases involving large companies and sensitive systems and has recent experience in matters involving secure servers and overseas banking institutions.

Robin is currently instructed in serious fraud, drugs, and sexual allegation cases involving large volumes of data and complex evidence. He also advises and represents individuals facing allegations of personal or professional misconduct. The same care for confidentiality extends to every client regardless of public profile.
