Paul Rooney secures acquittal for a nurse accused of neglect.

Jackie Collins appeared before the Conduct and Competency Committee of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, charged with five separate allegations of failing to provide adequate care to an elderly resident at a care home in South Shields, in August 2012.

At the close of the NMC’s case, Paul made a submission of no case to answer on the facts, as well as a submission that the conduct alleged, even if found proven, could not amount to misconduct and therefore Nurse Collins’s fitness to practice was not impaired. The panel agreed with both submissions and the case against her was stopped.

Paul was instructed on a direct access basis.
