Ian is one of our most experienced criminal law barristers, regularly appearing for both the defence and prosecution in cases at all levels of seriousness, from assaults, dishonesty and sexual offences through to murder.
Ian has appeared for both sides in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) in conviction and sentence appeals. He has acted for the respondent in Attorney General’s References for unduly lenient sentences, conducted a murder appeal against a QC, and appeared as leading junior for both prosecution and defence.
Alongside his advocacy practice, Ian has played a significant role in Bar politics. He is a former elected member of the Bar Council and previously served on the Executive Committee of the Criminal Bar Association.
