Profile
Gill was called to the Bar in 2002, having previously worked as a Clinical Psychologist and is the current Head of our Family team.
Gill specialises in child law, covering all aspects of public law and adoption work, as well as private law disputes. She receives repeat instructions from Local Authorities, parents, other family members and from children through their Solicitors and Guardians. Gill is instructed in the full range of cases involving all aspects of child abuse, serious physical non-accidental injury, emotional abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and allegations of fictitious illness. Her background is particularly useful in dealing with expert evidence and cross-examination. She also undertakes more complex private law disputes involving domestic abuse, forced marriage and international relocation.
As a qualified mediator and director of Fountain Mediation Gill recognises that out of court resolution of matters can be beneficial for some families.
With an approachable yet firm approach, Gill is always well prepared and committed to providing excellent client care. She is often instructed in cases involving vulnerable or challenging clients and believes it is crucial for clients to be well-informed about their case and to receive clear and honest advice.
In light of her background Gill has a unique understanding of cases involving issues of mental health, drug and alcohol usage and capacity. She also carries out Court of Protection work receiving instructions from Local Authorities and NHS Trusts, family members and the Official Solicitor.
