Paul Rooney successfully prosecuted in a case of causing serious injury by Dangerous Driving last week at Durham Crown Court. The defendant overtook a lorry on the A68 colliding head on with an oncoming vehicle causing catastrophic life changing injuries to the driver. Amongst the catalogue of serious injuries, the victim was paralysed from the chest down and had both legs amputated above the knee.

During Paul’s cross examination the defendant had to accept that the manner of his driving was dangerous at the point of the collision.

The defendant was represented privately by a QC who described Paul’s cross examination as devastating and left the defendant with nowhere to go. Consequently, the defendant changed his plea to guilty.

He was sentenced to 38 months imprisonment and disqualified for 4 years.
