Chambers’ Ian West secures conviction for Modern Slavery Act offence

Chambers’ Ian West yesterday secured a conviction, after an eight day trial at Durham Crown Court, for an offence of holding a person in slavery or servitude. The Defendant had taken in a vulnerable homeless drug addict, stole and spent her benefits, took her prescription medications, made her do all the housework, and regularly assaulted her. She will be sentenced later.
