Paul Rooney Succeeds in Securing Bail for Sarah Hall Charged with Murder of her Daughter

Jul 11, 2024

Sarah Hall and her partner were charged with murdering their daughter by the infliction of a single stab wound in the family home at Darlington on 5th July 2004.

Having been remanded into custody and sent to the Teesside Crown Court a bail application was lodged. It was listed today before Mr Justice Jacobs. The Prosecution were represented by Richard Wright KC.

Paul made the application stating this case was exceptional and the prosecution’s case was demonstrably weak and littered with significant difficulties.

Having heard the application Mr Justice Jacobs stated “ before I  heard the application, I was minded to refuse bail but Mr Rooney has persuaded me there is no evidence to support  the proposition that she posed a significant risk to anyone if granted bail.”

Bail with conditions were imposed.
