Alison has a wealth of experience in family law having worked in various law firms on Teesside in excess of 20 years. She qualified as a Legal Executive in 2006, a Solicitor in 2008 and obtained her Children Panel Accreditation in 2012. Having practiced as a family law solicitor for 16 years, she transferred to the Bar in 2024.
During her career as a family lawyer Alison has specialised in public and private law children matters. Her practice involves instructions from local authorities, parents, extended family members and children (both directly and through their Guardian). Such cases have included emotional and physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and non-accidental injuries.
Alison has also been involved in a number of complex private law proceedings involving the instruction of experts and the appointment of children’s guardians.
Due to her years in private practice Alison is a skilled advocate and communicator, providing robust yet empathetic advice and representation. She has experience across multiple levels of court, including the High Court.
Alison is approachable and builds rapport easily with both lay and professional clients. She is well equipped to represent vulnerable clients and prides herself on having a professional yet personable approach.
