Elisha Marsay


Prior to commencing pupillage Elisha was a Legal Officer specialising in disclosure of material for the purpose of Family Court proceedings, and Freedom of Information requests in accordance with the relevant legislation. Whilst in this substantive role, Elisha undertook a temporary role within the department as a Lawyer where she provided disclosure advice to Legal Officers on Family Court matters, attended advocates’ meetings, and drafted the legal basis for disclosures under the Common Law Disclosure Scheme.

Elisha’s pupillage has been overseen by Paul Rooney and Rebecca Brown. During pupillage Elisha has observed both Magistrates Court and Crown Court matters, including a trial of attempted murder, with an alternative count of grievous bodily harm with intent prosecuted by her supervisor, Paul Rooney. Throughout this trial Elisha observed expert evidence from a pathologist regarding the injuries sustained by the victim, and also contributed to the drafting of a hearsay application in relation to material recorded on body worn video.

Elisha was also present in conferences with a defendant indicted with two section 18 assaults, intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault on an emergency worker.

Throughout pupillage Elisha has drafted sentencing notes, opening speeches, application to exclude bad character and advice on evidence. She has also observed a variety of hearings including PTPH, sentence and trial.

Elisha is a grade 1 prosecutor and accepts instructions to prosecute and defend in criminal matters.
