Erin Campbell

Erin gained tenancy at chambers in September 2025 after successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of both Scott Smith and Kevin Ross. Erin accepts instructions in Private Children’s and Public Family Law, Civil Small Claims trials and Housing matters.

Erin has experience of representing Local Authorities, parents, family members and children via their Children’s Guardian in Public Law proceedings. Instructions in these areas have often encompassed issues ranging from neglect, substance misuse, parental mental health, and domestic abuse. Erin has appeared at all stages of the public law process, from contested interim removals through to final hearing. Erin has also had exposure to Deprivation of Liberty proceedings, representing a child through their Children’s Guardian.

In the area of Private Children’s Law, Erin has again appeared at all stages of proceedings. Erin prides herself on maintaining strong, professional relationships with instructing solicitors, which often results in representing clients throughout their time in proceedings. These proceedings often encompass a range of applications including Non-Molestation applicants, Specific Issue applications and Prohibited Steps applications. Erin has represented both applicant and respondent parties in various multi-day Finding of Fact hearing in respect of alleged sexual assault, physical and emotional harm to children and domestic abuse. Most significantly, during her second six, Erin represented an applicant mother at a Finding of Fact hearing, in which finding were made against the respondent father of serious physical and emotional harm to the children, which included findings of coercive and controlling behaviour.

Erin also represents clients in Small Claims trials and Housing matters. Instructions in this area have encompassed a variety of issues such as Road Traffic Accidents, Parking Fines, Personal Injury claims and Anti-social Behaviour.

Despite being local, Erin completed her degree at Queen’s University Belfast where she received a number of awards and a scholarship based upon her academic performance. After completing her undergraduate degree, Erin moved back to the North East and attended Northumbria University to complete her Bar Practice Course where she was praised for her attention to detail and her confident, yet compassionate, approach to client handling. Erin graduated from the Bar Practice Course with a Distinction.
